May Circle Lab: Stepping out of the Script

  • Open Circle United States (map)

If you spend any time paying attention right now, something becomes clear quickly:it’s not just information that is competing for our attention—it’s meaning. Before we’ve had time to sense what we think or feel, interpretations are already there.Stories arrive fast. Positions form quickly. Certainty presents itself as truth. Over time, this begins to shape how we see the world, how we relate to one another, and the kind of reality we collectively create.

But what if we could slow that process down—even slightly?

What if we could notice the “scripts” we find ourselves stepping into, often without realizing it?And what becomes possible when we create just enough space to choose again?

This Circle Lab is an opportunity to explore that edge together.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • How attention shapes the way we make meaning

  • The subtle ways we step into roles, stories, and interpretations

  • What it takes to notice the script while we are inside it

  • How groups can create the conditions for more thoughtful, conscious meaning-making

This is not about stepping outside of human experience, but about becoming more awake within it.

What Is Circle Lab?

Circle Lab is a monthly space to pause, reflect, and connect with peers navigating complexity, change, and impact in their organizations and communities. Each session explores a shared inquiry related to leadership, collaboration, and human systems—through dialogue, reflection, and collective sensemaking.

At Open Circle, we believe meaningful change begins not with rushing to act, but with learning how to listen—together.
